We recognise that education is the best tool to fight poverty and so we work with teachers, communities and local authorities to identify and address the barriers that prevent or hinder young people from accessing a quality education.

Projects

School resources

Teachers and students tell us that the lack of desks, tables and chairs, along with textbooks and learning materials makes learning really had for them. When 10 students share one book, it is nearly impossible to learn or teach. We want to address this challenge in all the schools in Babati

Our target is to raise £1,000 for each school and allow them to decide the ratio of desks/books as per their need

Fuel-Efficient Stoves

The heat from the fire goes everywhere and so they use huge amounts of wood from the forest leading tom deforestation and environmental degradation. The smoke is very mad for the health of the cook

£500 can allow us to build a fuel-efficient stove and reduce the amount of wood by over 50%

Tree Nurseries for Schools

A good diet is vital for health yet many young people don’t get enough fruit to stay healthy. We want to give school children a fruit tree to take home and plant. They will receive training on how to care for their tree and the benefits that trees bring.

£750 per school will allow us to set up a nursery where students can care for their saplings and once they are suitable take them home.

I can visit or zoom-in to talk about the similarities and differences about life for young people in Tanzania and how we are working with their communities to improve life. With 15 years’ experience, I can talk to any age group on culture, geography, geo-politics and international development with real life examples and images, bringing the topics to life.
