Pursue
Pursue offers vulnerable people support and practical solutions to develop their physical, emotional and economic wellbeing. We equip communities and schools with the skills, knowledge and resources required for a better tomorrow.
Projects
Teacher Development Programme
We believe teachers are change-makers, and consequently we work with rural primary schools to support teachers to develop their skills. Many of the teachers we work with are untrained and we provide seminars, school-based mentoring and training to improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools, so that children get access to the quality education that they deserve.
Income generation
We run training for widows, youth and schools to start up their own income generation businesses and work towards sustainability.
Jiggers treatment programme
We facilitate treatment for bedbug infestations in rural homes and for jiggers, a flesh-eating flea that can leave people unable to walk. We also empower the teaching of community first aid and basic hygiene to help avoid such conditions reappearing once they have been eliminated.

What learning opportunities can the project provide for the school?

There are a number of ways that your school could partner with us. We work with 24 rural schools so there are options to set up a penpal programme between your students and ours; fundraise for learning resources in the under-resourced rural schools; or skype with a class of students here in Kenya. Your teachers may wish to be connected with a teacher her in Kenya to discuss the similarities and differences in their roles.
