The Uphill Trust
​
The Uphill Trust supports grassroots education in rural western Uganda. We are helping the people in one community address this problem by supporting them as they build a primary school with kindergarten for their children. With our help, the school offers a safe place to learn for over 300 pupils, motivated teaching staff, and access to clean water and sanitation. All children who want to go to school are welcomed and the education of girls is actively encouraged. Our work empowers children through education – an important first step in breaking the cycle of poverty. We are a volunteer led organisation and 100% of donations are used to support development projects at the school.
Projects
A Meal a Day at School
​Many of the pupils at the school we support are from humble backgrounds and often come to school hungry. Hunger affects the ability of a child to learn and malnutrition can limit a child's physical development and, ultimately, their long term health. We would like every child at Uphill Junior School to have a nutritious meal each day at school. Cost per child: £15 per year Cost for 300 children: £4,500 per year
